ASK ALON
One of my goals in writing Breeding Between the Lines was to start a dialog at the intersection of race and biology. My hope was to use this site as a forum for that dialog. Unfortunately, in the few days that this site has been online I have already been flooded with hateful email. I fear that any public forum would be quickly taken over by racists. To avoid this I have set up this page as a space for questions and answers. Please email me any questions you have and I will do my best to answer reasonable questions here as quickly as I possibly can. Please email questions here.
To get the discussion started, I have included some answers to F.A.Q.s below:
What kind of science is the book based on?
Breeding Between the Lines is based on hundreds of studies from academic journals in evolutionary biology, biochemistry, animal behavior, botany, anthropology, human diversity, and medical genetics. There is a full set of notes and references in the back of the book.
Are you advocating eugenics?
Not at all. For one, Breeding Between the Lines is not an instruction manual. I encourage people to marry whomever they want. Secondly, eugenics historically argued for the exact opposite of interracial unions. Racist eugenicists were attempting to create some kind of "pure" race. Breeding Between the Lines shows why this type of institutionalized inbreeding is a very bad idea.
Isn't race just a cultural construct?
This issue is too complex to address in this space, but it is covered thoroughly in Chapter 4.
